Rounding Up The Beef

Beef cattle production represents the largest single segment of American agriculture. In 2014 there were 729 thousand beef cow operations in the United States, and 25.5 billion pounds of beef was consumed. Moreover, calorie for calorie, beef is one of the most nutrient-rich foods. This is reason enough to commemorate Angus and Herford. As it is the unofficial start of the grilling season, May is aptly designated National Beef Month.


This year, you’ll find the beef at Lady Luck Casino® Black Hawk. In honor of National Beef Month, we will be grilling up some beef every day in May.


Otis & Henry's® will be rounding up the beef and will highlight featured beef specials every week throughout the month. Start the National Beef Month festivities with a bang by celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a Steak Sandwich; Give mom the night off and treat her to Otis & Henry’s Meatloaf for Mother’s Day; or observe Memorial Day with some American favorites and order the Bacon Wrapped Chop Steak. Other daily beef specials to expect this month are:

Our preparations for the month-long beef celebration has us doing more than just cooking. We recently took to social media seeking assistance from our fans and followers in naming our three cow mascots of the month. Thanks to the social media cattle-naming aficionados (who each won a $50 dining credit at Otis & Henry’s for their creativity), visitors to the casino during the month of May will be greeted by three cutout cows who will be “moo-ving” around the premises & the town! While visiting us, take advantage of the many opportunities to work up an appetite in preparation for some savory red meat.
